Senior Truth Series: The Truth About Alzheimer's & Dementia

OVERLAND PARK, KS The Senior Truth Series returns this month with a topic of great interest to an aging population. The Truth about Alzheimer~s and Dementia is the topic for the free seminar at the Tomahawk Ridge Community Center on March 20. The 90-minute session begins at 10 a.m.Seminar series founder and moderator Julie Spaulding said the goal is to educate attendees about diagnostic processes, progressive care needs and other realities that people often choose to ignore or deny. Available resources, tools and support will be shared. This topic is especially important to me, Spaulding said. My father-in-law passed away a couple of years ago with severe dementia. My mother-in-law was a great caregiver and was able to make sure his last years were lived with dignity and comfort. Those facing these challenges often find themselves entangled in difficult decisions debating whether to stay put or consider relocation, grappling with the timing and selection of support services, and navigating conversations with loved ones about their evolving plans. A panel of seasoned professionals and individuals with life experiences will offer valuable insights into these questions and more.
