Hello! My name is Denise Schonwald. I’m a National Licensed Spiritually-based Mental Health Counselor and this is my therapy dog. This is Henry.

I’d like to talk to you a little bit more about healing from the inside out. What happens with the body is when we work too much or maybe we are not working at all, the body starts to get out of balanced. And when the body gets out of balanced to a point where we have really sort of let ourselves go, this is when the mind becomes very overactive and the mind will start to overthink and the body starts to panic. This is when sometimes we get palpitations. We start to get really irritable.

And what will happen automatically without us even recognizing it is the body will go desperately and try for some ease. Now, if the mind is taken over by this point, these are where attachments or addictions come in. Typically, we will go for food, spending, maybe a little bit too much computer time, smoking, drinking. We all have our vices.

If we can keep ourselves in balance and sort of catch these sort of little subtleties that the body gives us before we spiral completely out of control and the mind takes over, we will go to maybe decide that maybe tomorrow we will go to the gym, get to a yoga class, maybe make some time for meditation, and these when we can go into our higher mind, higher thinking, and pick more appropriate and effective coping mechanisms.

But if you are not really sure where you are, watch what your body is doing, watch how you are acting, watch how people are perceiving you, and then you will know what you need to do. But once the mind takes over, a lot of times it’s too late.
