"Fleeting Presence: The Liminal Art of Daniel Sprick" at the Madden Museum of Art

Announcing the Daniel Sprick Retrospective Exhibition at the Madden Museum of ArtFleeting Presence: The Liminal Art of Daniel SprickThe School of Art & Art History at the University of Denver proudly presents "Fleeting Presence: The Liminal Art of Daniel Sprick" at the Madden Museum of Art, located within the Palazzo Verdi building at 6363 S. Fiddlers Green Cir., Greenwood Village, CO 80111. The exhibition runs through April 28, 2024.This exhibition, curated by 15 graduate students from the Master of Art History program and one undergraduate Fine Arts major, examines Daniel Spricks broad ranging oeuvre spanning portraiture, landscape, still life, and interiors. Student curators selected paintings and drawings from nearly four decades of Spricks work. All told, there are 54 works on view showcasing the evolution of Sprick~s artistic practice. The student-curators worked closely with Sprick to develop the exhibition in which they gained valuable insights and hands-on experience. Under the supervision of Dr. Geoffrey Shamos, this immersive practicum provided students with opportunities to learn from local curators and professionals from esteemed institutions such as the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver and the Denver Art Museum.Daniel Sprick~s hyper-realism is characterized by an embrace of uncertainty, uniting seeming opposites life and death, stillness and dynamism, transience and permanence to transform the mundane into the magical and mysterious. Drawing inspiration from the Dutch realist tradition, especially the works of Johannes Vermeer, Sprick~s art is a manifestation of his expert manipulation of form, space, color, and light. His hauntingly beautiful paintings serve as a mirror to our reality, infused with an undercurrent of melancholy and subliminal meaning.Daniel Sprick is represented at Gallery 1261 in Denver, CO and the Gerald Peters Galleries in Santa Fe, NM.Key Details:Venue: Madden Museum of ArtAddress: 6363 S Fiddlers Green Cir, Greenwood Village, CO 80111 (inside the Palazzo Verdi building).  Hours are:  Monday-Friday, 9am - 5pm.Dates: Through March 29, 2024Opening Reception: January 19, 5 - 9pm.About the Madden Museum of Art: In January 2016, the University of Denver was pleased to accept the Madden Collection as a permanent addition to the Universitys holdings. John W. Madden, Jr donated a collection of 133 artworks to the University of Denver. The Madden Collection at the University of Denver includes artworks by artists ranging from pioneering Western painters to American masters to Italian painters of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. European works include Italian Impressionists and British masters.About the University of Denver: The School of Art & Art History teaches the technical processes and diverse histories of art, as well as methods of analyzing visual culture. We aim to widen understandings of visual expression while helping our students articulate their unique aesthetics and share them with the world. Our instruction helps students think critically and conceptually so they can make significant contributions to society. FOR MORE INFORMATION AND IMAGES, PLEASE CONTACT THE ARTSOL AT ROSE@DANIELSPRICKART.COM###
