Memory Cafe is a class that is for both caregiver and their love one who has a level of cognitive or mental decline. We have fun interactive games and activities that also help with brain stimulation. It~s an opportunity for individuals struggling with memory loss and their family caregivers to interact with others in an encouraging, supportive environment. This class meets on the forth Wednesday of the month from 1-2pm. Consultation with counselor is necessary to determine if care recipient is appropriate prior to attending. Once approved, registration is required, and seat are limited. Contact our office at 972-953-7769 for more details or to sign up for this class.
DMA FREE First Sundays: Access for All Every first Sunday of each month in 2024, the DMA will offer free exhibition admission once a month with DMA FREE First Sundays: Access for All. You heard us right! Guests who visit the Museum on the first Sunday of each month will have the opportunity to experience exhibitions including He Said/She Said: Contemporary Women Artists Interject and The Impressionist Revolution from Monet to Matisse, typically a $30 value, at NO COST, in addition to dynamic on-site programs and over 5,000 years of stunning permanent collection works! Generous support is provided by Art Bridges Foundations Access for All program.No ticket reservations are required for DMA FREE First Sundays: Access for All. DMA FREE First Sundays also includes Open Studio from noon to 4:00 p.m. and a docent-led Collections Highlights Tour from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Mental aerobics is a program designed to enhance the self-esteem and cognitive functioning of older adults where the emphasis is on having fun, the cooperative sharing of ideas, and the development of solutions to challenging problems. Our facilitator brings to the group puzzles, critical thinking worksheets, and both math and word problems to be solved. We even solve the daily Wordle and Boggle puzzles together. Older person who may no longer believe they can produce creative answers and solve such problems are encouraged to believe in themselves by their own successful performance. This class meets on the second Tuesday of the month from 10:30-11:30 am in classroom 2 at the Sam Johnson Recreation Center.
