 Every child with a disability has strengths. These may be in doing artwork, in their personality, or in their motor skills. Every child has a strength. Its more important for us to focus on what children can do, their abilities, rather than their disability. We can use childrens abilities to assist the areas that they have most challenges with. Unicef / Parenting for Every ChildSCOPE: To help provide a safe, healthy, and enrichingenvironment for children and young adults served at Special Kids SpecialFamilies Zachs Place childcare and respite program. This position is under thedirect supervision of the Program Director and/or designee. This can be a full-time (40hr/wk) or part-time (20hr/wk) position.ESSENTIAL DUTIES:  Provide direct care, including physical care to theprograms participants. May include caring for medically fragile individuals  Assist in the implementation of established goals andtreatment in the daily programming of the Center as determined in theparticipants individual plan  Follow the policies and procedures for the care ofZachs Place participants, as established by the Center and the StateDepartment of Human Services. This includes safety plans, reportingemergencies, life skills programming and emergency procedures  Maintain necessary paperwork, including medicationlogs, incident reports, check-in guide. Report any Center needs, includingrepair and maintenance, in the staff communication book and to Team Shift Lead  Report and document incidents per agency policies andprocedures for reporting incidents  Must be willing to learn and implement positive behaviorsupports for the children  Will work as a team member and assist other staff inthe completion of tasks to maintain the Centers standards for safety andcleanliness  Must be willing to implement community participationactivities  Must be willing to assist with faculty duties,recreation activities, and other areas to better serve those participating inthe program  Other duties as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:   High Schooldiploma or GED   A minimum of 2 years experience providing direct care to children, withsome experience working with children with special needs.   Must be able to lift and transfer, up to 50 lbs. and be able to standfor the majority of the shift.   Must be available to work occasional weekend days if needed.   Must be able to work independently in the communityfor picking up and dropping off children, community participation and communityconnections activities; thus, meeting the agencys standards for independentwork   Workexperience that includes one or more of the following CAN License, BehaviorSupport Specialist, Paraprofessional in the school system or Home Health Workeris an asset   CPR,First Aid, & Universal Precautions within 30 days of hire   ValidDrivers License & current vehicle insurance SALARY: $17-18/HR BENEFITS INCLUDE:   Health, Life, Dental & Vision Insurance   401K   Paid time off   Referral Program   Paid HolidaysZachs Place childcare and respite center serveschildren ages 2.5-18 with disabilities (developmental, behavioral, andphysical).   As a CHILDCARE PROVIDER/TEACHER you will beproviding children with practical life skills education, developcritical safety and self-sufficiency skills, and involve the children in communityinclusion activities. Youll be working with them on fine and gross motoractivities to gain interpersonal and communication skills.  Youll be helping the children participate inmusic, art, and science classes appropriate for their different developmentallevels and engage them in our new and unique on-site horticulture therapy andgarden program. The indoor and outdoor play areas include adaptive equipment forthe youth to encourage physical activity.
