Get StartedRegion 10, a government member nonprofit organization serving six counties in Western Colorado, is accepting applications for the Area Agency on Aging Program Director. This is an exempt, full-time position responsible for directing the Area Agency on Aging (AAA) program at Region 10. The position is responsible for the planning, development, and support of a coordinated system of services for senior citizens in a six-county region by securing federal and state grants and allocating financial support through contracts with senior services providers throughout the region. Reporting Relationships The Area Agency on Aging Director reports directly to and functions under the general supervision of the Executive Director and receives policy advice and consultation from the AAA Regional Advisory Council, an appointed group of citizens from the region. The Area Agency on Aging Director directly supervises the Area Agency on Aging team. Duties and Responsibilities Responsible for the development and administration of the Area Agency on Aging Four-Year Plan for the provision of services to older adults, including assessment of needs, inventory, and evaluation of currently available services and determination of priorities for needed service programs. Manages fiscal and program contracting and performance reporting to the State Unit on Aging (SUA), which allocates state and federal funding to the AAA.Collaborates with other Colorado AAA directors, local governments, non-profits, for-profit, and community service organizations to coordinate services, evaluate effectiveness, and expand the capacity of the senior services network.Represents the interests of older adults to public officials, as well as public and private organizations.Ensures compliance with all elements of the Older Americans Act, Title III, Title VII, and Volume 10 rules, as well as other applicable rules or regulations.Oversees the annual AAA contractor funding application process including the request for proposals, selecting contractors, and allocating funding among contractors with the Regional Advisory Councils recommendations, drafting and finalizing contracts, and monitoring the utilization of contractor funds.Develops and implements annual evaluation process for all AAA contractors.Develops AAA policies and procedures as necessary to assure consistent performance and compliance with state, federal, and other grant requirements.Works closely with the AAA Regional Advisory Council in scheduling regular meetings, reports, and updates. Develops and manages an information and referral service for all programs for older adults in the region.Coordinates technical assistance services as necessary to contractors, community agencies, and individuals. Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience: Share Region 10s mission and have a strong desire to provide access to services for older adults in our community, with a focus on underserved populations including lower-income, isolated, and minorities. Demonstrate success in development and implementation of programs to serve older adults. Experience in working with government agencies and non-profit organizations Prior experience in preparation of financial reports, budgeting, and grant compliance is preferred.Strong service, organizational, leadership, and supervisoryexperience, including relationships with outside organizations and agencies. Excellent verbal, written communication, and presentation skills. Self-motivated, demonstrate initiative, and adhere to high ethical standards. Collaborate effectively with other staff members and work well in a busy environment. Statement of Qualifications Bachelors Degree in a related field or equivalent experience with administrative or volunteer management experience required. Working knowledge of local, state, and federal policies, regulations, and reporting requirements for older adult services. Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint or equivalent software products. Other Position requires travel throughout the six-county service area, the State of Colorado, and nationally. Infrequent overnight travel is required. Access to a personal vehicle and the ability to drive a vehicle in all weather is essential. Functional Attributes Physical Demands: Position requires light lifting, stooping, reaching, handling, talking, hearing and visual depth perception. Extensive use of desktop and laptop computers and the phone is required. Mental Functions: Position requires comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills. Environmental Conditions & Physical Surroundings: Position requires work in a comfortable office environment and does not involve working in dangerous environmental conditions or physical surroundings. Hazards: Position does not involve working with identified hazards. AAA Program Director Salary Range: $68,000 - $86,000 depending on experience. Our beloved Seniors Blue Book delivery guy, Ken, will be retiring after 20+ years of service to SBB. Very flexible hours. After first round of deliveries are made one a year, the job consists of restocking racks on a bi-monthly basis. Great for a retiree looking for a little side hustle.
