High Country Volunteers

High Country Volunteers partners with organizations in Garfield and Pitkin counties to offer engaging opportunities for volunteers of all ages to positively impact our community through their time and talents.  Our volunteer opportunities are searchable on our website at www.highcountryvolunteers.org by calendar date, keyword, location, and by community partner name.  In addition, we have two signature volunteer-led programs including our Medicare/SHIP (State Health Insurance Assistance Program) Counseling and Tax Assistance Program.  Medicare Counseling:  Trained and certified volunteer counselors meet with clients in-person and over the phone to help seniors understand their medical bills, identify gaps in coverage, identify assistance programs, assist with enrollment, and help seniors choose the best prescription drug plan.Tax Assistance Program:  Trained and certified volunteers prepare and electronically file state and federal income taxes at no cost for individuals with incomes less than $64,000.
