2027 Medicare Annual Enrollment is here!

VERY IMPORTANT: Regarding Medicare it is illegal for an insurance agent to call, text, e-mail, knock on your door, hang anything on your door or vehicle or approach you without your consent. If they do ask for their National Producer Number NPN, and you will hear a click and removed from their list. If they dont hang up, get their number and report them to Medicare. There is so much fraud where people are being switched to plans that they never approved or they were miss led. Shop local, do background checks before you give anyone your personal information. You can google them, google reviews, check their Facebook, etc. Make sure that if you are working with someone you can call them personally if you have any questions or concerns. Medicare Annual Enrollment is October 15-December 7th for January 1st, 2027, effective. What can be changed at this time is Medicare Part D Drug Plans and Medicare Part C (Advantage Plans). You should have received your Notification of Change from your current insurance plan. This outlines the current year to the new year changes, as an example if your specialist provider costs $20 now it might say $35 in 2027 (no correlation just an example). Medicare Part C / Advantage Plans, most carriers have raised out of pocket limits and copays along with decreased extra value benefits for 2027.  Annually Medicare Advantage Plans make changes. They must all include the same features as Original Medicare but not at the same cost share. They can have a premium, Medical and or Prescription deductible, copays and coinsurance can change. Extra Value such as Vision, Dental, Over the Counter, Part B Give Back, transportation, etc. can all change or be eliminated. Medicare sets the annual in-network out of pocket maximum; in 2026 it is $9,250 for in-network and $13,900 out-of-network services combined (2027 this will increase). However, individual insurance plans may set lower limits. The old saying if it is not broken do not fix it DOES NOT apply to Annual Enrollment. Every year I see many people that have not checked/compared their current plan to what is new. I have saved so many people hundreds and in many cases thousands of dollars. You should be working with a broker that represents many insurance companies. Make sure you check them out, especially if you are going to allow someone in your house. I recommend meeting in their office. For me we represent most insurance carriers in our area and carrying all their literature with me is almost impossible. We use three large screens so that our clients can clearly see and compare the differences between the plans. The minimum information always needed is all your doctors, medications: names, milligrams, and dosage. We load your current plan and then compare it to all the other companies in your area. What companies have all your doctors, the price for your medication normally makes a significant difference. Then the Extra Value is what is most important to you. We do NOT CHARGE for your review and if warranted to change your insurance plan. Ethics is most important and if you are on the best plan we will tell you, plus you can see for yourself. If your plan was CANCELLED/DROPPED for 2027, you have a guaranteed issue into a Medigap/Medicare Supplement.  This is huge and very important, know your options!Medicare Seminars they are good for general information. A one-to-one appointment where you can dive into your doctors and medication is best, plus you can then compare other companies in one place. Medicare Part D most insurance carriers have taken away insurance agents ability to help you with your Part D Only drug plans this does not apply to most Advantage plans, standalone drug plans as well as Advantage Plans, you wont have to pay more than $2,400 in out-of-pocket drug costs, which include deductibles, co-pays, coinsurance. It is especially important to check your plans formulary as medication must be in formulary to be capped. 2027 RX deductible will be capped at $715.00. As a reminder the cost of the plan is not as important as the cost plus your medications, that is what you look at, the total cost. It is important to know what the medication is used for to determine if it is covered by the plan. Example Wycovy may be covered but to be covered it must be used for certain heart conditions or diabetes, Medicare does not cover weight lose medications at this time.  As a reminder if you choose NOT to ENROLL in a Part D drug plan and in later years you want one you will have to wait for Annual Enrollment and then you will assed a penalty for every month you did not have a drug plan, that penalty will last for the REST OF YOUR LIFE! When you turn 65 you are eligible for Medicare, once you have worked 40 quarters roughly 10 years there is no cost for Medicare Part A. Part A covers Hospitals, Skilled Nursing, Home Health & Hospice. Medicare Part B you can choose to take at 65, or you can hold off if you are still working and have credible coverage. If you do not have group health insurance that is considered qualified, and then you want Medicare you would have a late enrollment penalty for each month you did not have Part B & Part D, and that penalty will last for the rest of your life. Part B covers doctors, imaging, blood work, ambulance, durable medical equipment, etc. Part D is a Medicare Drug Plan and covers medications. During your initial enrollment period it is especially important to understand your options! Medicare Supplements/Medigap Plans are NOT guaranteed issues; you may need to medically qualify. You can purchase a Medigap Plan during your 1st 6 months on Medicare Part B without medical underwriting. There are a lot of things you need to know. Again, work with an agent you can trust! Especially important: when you move you need to know your options. Can you keep the same plan? Do you need to make a change and what does that look like? Logical Insurance Solutions is a SWFL Insurance Broker that works with most of the insurance carriers in your area, we are happy to help you through the maze. Senior Relocation in Monmouth & Ocean: More Than Finding a House

Senior Relocation in Monmouth & Ocean Counties: Why Moving Is About More Than Finding a HousePicture two homes. The first has the perfect number of bedrooms, a beautiful kitchen and a price that fits the budget. The second is slightly smaller but is closer to family, restaurants, healthcare, shopping and the activities the homeowner enjoys.Which one is actually the better home? For a senior relocation, the answer often depends on what happens outside the front door. That is why choosing a new home later in life should be about more than bedrooms, bathrooms and square footage. It should be about lifestyle.A Home Is Part of a Larger CommunityFor many older adults, the neighborhood becomes increasingly important.A senior may want to be close to a favorite restaurant in Red Bank, family in Middletown, the beaches along the Jersey Shore, golf courses, shopping or community activities.Someone else may want a quiet neighborhood where they can spend more time at home. The right choice is personal.Monica Reddin's professional background and local market experience give her an understanding of the communities that make up Monmouth and Ocean Counties and the surrounding Central Jersey area.Think About the Next Five to Ten YearsA common mistake is choosing a home based exclusively on what works today.Instead, consider what may matter several years from now. That does not mean assuming something will go wrong. It means choosing flexibility.Ask: Is there a first-floor bedroom? Are the bathrooms convenient? Is there excessive maintenance? Are there stairs? Is the home easy to enter and exit? Is shopping nearby? Is family reasonably close? Is there access to transportation? Can the homeowner remain socially connected? These considerations can make a home more adaptable. The Importance of Right-SizingSome homeowners do not need a dramatically smaller house. They simply need a better-fitting house. That is the idea behind right-sizing.Maybe the homeowner wants: A smaller yard Fewer stairs Less exterior maintenance A garage A first-floor primary suite A manageable condominium An active-adult community A home closer to family A home closer to healthcare and shopping The goal is to match the property to the lifestyle. Why Local Knowledge MattersOnline real-estate searches can show properties, but they do not always explain what daily life feels like in a particular location.Local expertise matters.A REALTOR who works across Monmouth and Ocean Counties can help buyers understand differences among communities and neighborhoods. For example, a buyer considering Middletown may have very different priorities from someone looking in Toms River or Howell.Even neighboring communities can have different housing stock, commuting patterns, amenities and lifestyle characteristics.Moving to a New Community Can Be ExcitingRelocation is sometimes portrayed only as a difficult transition. But a move can also open the door to new experiences.A smaller home can mean less maintenance.A 55+ community can provide new social opportunities.Moving closer to family can mean more spontaneous dinners and visits with grandchildren.Relocating near the Shore can make it easier to enjoy favorite Jersey Shore destinations.A move can also provide an opportunity to finally choose a location based on how you want to live rather than where you needed to live decades earlier. What Should Buyers Look For During a Home Tour?Don't simply walk through the rooms.Imagine living there.Stand in the kitchen and picture making breakfast.Walk from the bedroom to the bathroom.Consider where groceries would be unloaded.Look at the stairs.Open cabinets.Check lighting.Think about where guests would sit. Then step outside. How easy is it to get to the car?How busy is the street? What is nearby?Would you feel comfortable walking? This type of practical evaluation can reveal things that photographs never show.Make the Move About the PersonSenior relocation works best when the older adult remains at the center of the process.Family members may have opinions.Adult children may have concerns.Professionals may provide advice. But the senior's goals should remain an important part of the conversation whenever possible.Monica's approach emphasizes that personal dimension.Family and community mean everything to me, and I bring that same care to real estate. What Makes a Senior Relocation Specialist Different?A senior-focused REALTOR understands that the transaction may involve more than buying or selling property. It can involve: Downsizing Decluttering Timing the sale and purchase Relocating closer to family Comparing 55+ communities Planning for lower maintenance Coordinating with other professionals Transitioning from a longtime home Evaluating a new community Monica holds the Seniors Real Estate Specialist designation, reflecting specialized education focused on the needs of older adults in real estate.Frequently Asked QuestionsWhat is senior relocation?Senior relocation is the process of helping an older adult transition from one home or community to another while considering real-estate, lifestyle, timing and practical needs. Why should seniors work with a senior-focused REALTOR?A senior-focused REALTOR can bring specialized knowledge to situations involving downsizing, 55+ communities, relocation closer to family and later-life housing transitions. What areas does Monica Reddin serve?Monica's professional profiles identify Monmouth and Ocean Counties along with other Central Jersey communities. Is moving to a 55+ community the only option for seniors? No. Seniors may choose a condominium, townhouse, smaller single-family home, active-adult community or another housing option depending on their goals. What should I do first if I am considering a senior move?Start with a conversation about lifestyle. Identify what is working, what is becoming difficult and what you want the next chapter to look like before focusing on individual properties.Learn MorePlanning a senior relocation in Monmouth, Ocean or surrounding Central Jersey communities? Moving Closer to Family in NJ: Seniors Relocate and Keep Independence

Moving Closer to Family in New Jersey: How Seniors Can Relocate Without Losing Their IndependenceSometimes the most important reason to move has nothing to do with the house. It is family. An adult child may have moved to Middletown, Red Bank, Holmdel, Tinton Falls, Freehold, Brick or another Monmouth or Ocean County community. A grandchild may be growing up nearby. A spouse may need additional support. Or a family may simply realize that being within a reasonable drive of one another would make everyday life easier. For older adults, relocating closer to family can provide an opportunity to create a stronger support network while still maintaining independence. But moving across townor across New Jerseyrequires more than finding a house online. The Real Question: What Does Closer Mean? For one family, being close might mean living five minutes away. For another, it might mean being within 30 minutes. The important thing is to define what kind of proximity actually makes a difference.Consider: How often do family members expect to visit? Who will provide transportation if needed? Are there grandchildren nearby? How close should the home be to medical appointments? Is public transportation important? Would family prefer a condominium, townhouse or single-family home? Does the buyer want an active-adult community? How much privacy and independence does the older adult want? A senior relocation specialist can help turn these broad questions into a practical home search. Why Location Matters So Much for Older AdultsA home can be beautiful and still be a poor fit if everyday errands are difficult. For seniors, location can influence everything from social connection to transportation.A home near restaurants, shopping, parks, community organizations, healthcare providers and family may support a more convenient lifestyle.Monmouth County offers a particularly diverse range of environments. A senior can remain close to the Jersey Shore, live near the restaurants and cultural activities of Red Bank, stay in the Middletown area or explore communities farther inland.Independence Does Not Have to Mean Doing Everything AloneOne misconception about moving closer to family is that it means giving up independence. It doesn't have to.A senior may choose a home where they can continue driving, walking, socializing and managing their own daily routine while simply having family closer. For example, an older adult might choose a smaller home or 55+ community with less exterior maintenance. That can leave more time for golf, dining, visiting friends, spending time with grandchildren or enjoying the Shore. The right move can actually support independence by eliminating unnecessary household responsibilities.A Conversation Families Should Have EarlyAdult children sometimes begin thinking about relocation before their parents do.That can create tension.Instead of saying, You need to move closer to us, families may find it more productive to discuss what everyone wants the next several years to look like.Questions can include:What do you love about your current home? What has become more difficult? What would make life easier? What do you want to be closer to?Would you consider a smaller home?Would a 55+ community appeal to you?How important is being near your grandchildren? The objective is to create a shared understanding rather than make the conversation solely about what family members believe the senior should do.Understanding the New CommunityMoving closer to family is also a lifestyle decision.A senior may be familiar with their current neighborhood but not know what everyday life is like in another community. Before buying, spend time there.Visit the local shopping areas. Have lunch. Drive the surrounding streets. Look at parks and recreation. Determine how far it is to medical offices and other frequently used services. If possible, visit at different times of day.A REALTOR who understands the local market can also help buyers compare neighborhoods and property types. What Should Families Do With the Existing Home? This is often the biggest practical question. The current home may need to be sold before the new one is purchased. In other cases, the family may be considering a temporary overlap. There are several factors to discuss with a real-estate professional: Current market conditions Estimated home value Necessary repairs Decluttering Staging Timing Closing dates Temporary housing Moving logistics Tax and financial considerations, with appropriate financial professionals The right strategy depends on the individual situation. The Emotional Side of RelocationA house can hold decades of memories. That is especially true when a family has lived in the same home for 20, 30 or even 40 years. The decision to move closer to family may be exciting while still involving grief. That is normal.A thoughtful relocation process leaves room for both emotions.Monica's philosophy emphasizes the significance of these transitions:Moving isnt just about a new houseits a new chapter.Frequently Asked QuestionsShould seniors move closer to adult children? There is no one-size-fits-all answer. Families should consider the senior's preferences, independence, social network, housing needs and desired lifestyle. What Monmouth County communities should seniors consider?Options can include Middletown, Red Bank, Holmdel, Tinton Falls, Freehold and communities throughout Monmouth County. The right location depends on each buyer's priorities. How far should a senior live from family? The ideal distance depends on transportation, family schedules and the level of support desired. Close should be defined by the family's actual needs. How can seniors maintain independence after relocating?Choosing an appropriately sized, accessible and low-maintenance home near family, services and activities can help support independence. How can I begin a senior relocation conversation?Start with lifestyle rather than selling. Discuss what is working, what has become difficult and what the older adult would like their next chapter to look like.Learn MoreLearn more about senior relocation and real-estate services from Monica Reddin Homes through her Seniors Blue Book Listing:
