According to the 2014 US Census, approximately 15% of Coloradoans are experiencing medical issues that leads to low vision, including diabetes. Low Vision is defined as the loss of vision that cannot be corrected through the use of prescription lenses and cannot be fixed through medical interventions. A person with low vision may find it difficult or impossible to accomplish activities such as reading, writing, shopping, watching television, driving a car or recognizing faces. This is where adaptation becomes a necessity. Because many people who are currently living with vision loss are over 60, (1 in 6 people over the age of 60) adaption maybe very difficult. The team at the Ensight Skills Center for visual rehabilitation urge Coloradoans to reach out to find services that will help walk them through the difficult transition.
