Bluestem Village is a newly built state-of-the-art skilled nursing facility is designed with the Resident in mind that focus on the needs of individuals in a home-like environment located at 1 Darlene Drive, La Junta, CO 81050. We are looking for an innovative Nursing Home Administrator to head this exciting brand-new facility. The start date for the ideal candidate would be December 2022.

The primary responsibility of your job position is to plan, organize, develop, coordinate and manage the overall operations of the nursing home in accordance with federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations and in accordance with Vivage Management policies and procedures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Program, Policies and Procedure Duties: 50% time

  • Directs and implements safety practices including emergency preparedness
  • Assures department managers plan, organize, develop, implement, evaluate and direct facility programs and activities
  • Recruits, trains and leads an effective professional team of managers who implement programs and services which reflect Vivage Managements values, goals and ethics, and which support financial growth and stability
  • Manages Workers Compensation program in coordination with the HR Director
  • Participates in governmental agency facility surveys
  • Assures adherence to all Vivage Management standards, programs, policies and systems
  • Chairs the facilitys Performance Improvement Committee and assures appropriate follow-up
  • Ensures the communication and enforcement of residents rights; reviews resident complaints and grievances; prepares written reports of action taken; discusses with resident and family as appropriate
  • Promotes Vivages philosophy of culture change and person-centered care model to ensure residents have the opportunity to grow and live enriched lives in a non-traditional nursing home setting.
  • Develops and implements a marketing plan to maintain facility viability and success; maintains occupancy and payor mix to maximize financial outcomes
  • Participates in various facility, corporate and external committees and task forces
  • Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret relevant programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures
  • Keeps abreast of industry trends through continuing education, committee involvement, journals, networking and other available avenues
  • Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures, etc., necessary for providing quality care and maintaining a sound operation
  • Completes special projects as assigned

Reporting Duties: 20%time

  • Monitors procurement and utilization of equipment and supplies sufficient to provide safe, sanitary, and quality resident services in all areas
  • Ensures that an adequate number of appropriately trained staff are on duty at all times to meet the needs of the residents
  • Completes all required reports and projects in a timely, efficient manner
  • Provides timely documentation regarding performance, counseling and guidance to department managers while promoting growth and competency in a positive and nurturing environment
  • Develops and maintains written job descriptions that accurately reflect job responsibilities and are in compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Must be able to communicate policies, procedures, regulations, reports, etc., to personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and government agencies/personnel

Department Support Duties: 15% time

  • Assures departmental response and follow-up to Vivage Managements Consolidated Site Reports
  • Assists department managers with staff counseling and performance evaluations.
  • Provides effective leadership and direction to department managers
  • Maintains appropriate communication with Vivage Management regarding all clinical, financial and operational issues
  • Ensures facility and personal involvement within the community

Management Duties: 15%time

  • Develops effective working relationships with staff and maintains an environment conducive to building teams
  • Functions as the homes chief public relations officer
  • Responsible for the overall financial performance of the facility
  • Purchases all equipment and capital items in accordance with Vivage Management approval protocol and facility governing body
  • Must possess the ability to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of computer systems, system applications, and other office equipment
  • Strong financial management skills
  • Working knowledge of long-term care state and federal regulations, Medicare, Medicaid, employment law, OSHA and Workers Compensation
  • Basic computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and email
  • Knowledge of laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to hospital and nursing facility administrative procedures

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Education: Bachelors Degree (Masters Degree) preferred in Health Care or related field; Eden Associate also preferred.

Experience: Must have a minimum of (3) three years supervisory experience (5) years preferred in a long-term care facility Experience as a Nursing Home Administrator (strongly preferred)

License: Nursing Home Administrator license in good standing in the state of Colorado preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; sit; use hand and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
  • Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents
  • Sits, stands, bends, lifts and moves intermittently during working hours
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move a minimum of 50 pounds

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Majority of time spent in an office environment that is heated and/or air-conditioned.
  • Position requires some exposure to facilities, which involves exposure to healthcare environment
  • Works in all areas of the building
  • Moves intermittently during working hours
  • Is subject to frequent interruptions
  • Communicates with personnel, facility staff, and other department supervisors
  • Is involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., under all conditions and circumstances
  • Is subject to difficult and emotionally upset personnel, visitors, etc.
  • Works beyond normal duty hours, on weekends and holidays as necessary
  • Is subject to call back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.)
  • Is subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc., throughout the workday, as well as reactions from dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoke, and other air contaminants
  • May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals
  • Must be able to work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and, at times, hostile people within the facility

OTHER:

  • Ability to travel to offsite meetings and educational events, including those requiring overnight stays
  • Must possess a valid and unrestricted Drivers License
