Alzheimer~s Association Colorado Chapter The Alzheimer~s Association Colorado Chapter is the leading source of information and support for the nearly 91,000 Coloradans living with Alzheimer~s disease and the 178,000 family members and friends who care for them. Every program and service is offered free of charge. 24/7 Helpline: 800.272.3900 Free and confidential, day or night, 365 days a year. Calls are answered by trained specialists and master~s-level clinicians who can help with a new diagnosis, a 2 a.m. crisis, or difficult behaviors and who can work through care planning with you, sort out family decisions, prepare you for changing needs, and connect you with local services. Interpretation is available in more than 200 languages. Support groups for caregivers Facilitated groups for family caregivers meet throughout the Denver metro area and across Colorado, in person and online. Trained facilitators lead every group. Education classes Free classes, offered in person, live online, and on demand. Understanding Alzheimer~s and Dementia covers the difference between Alzheimer~s and dementia, disease stages, risk factors, research, and FDA-approved treatments. The 10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer~s helps you recognize common signs in yourself and others and know how to talk to a doctor. Building Brain-Healthy Habits offers research-backed guidance on protecting memory and thinking at every age, and helps participants build a personal action plan. For caregivers, The Empowered Caregiver is a series covering the foundations of caregiving, supporting independence, communicating effectively, responding to dementia-related behaviors, and exploring care and support services take individual courses or the full series. Managing Money: A Caregiver~s Guide to Finances covers the costs of caregiving, the benefits of early planning, and how to avoid financial abuse and fraud. Senior living communities, senior centers, libraries, and faith communities can request a free class or speaker for their group. Early-stage programs The chapter offers three support groups for people living in the early stage of dementia two meet in person and one meets online. Staff can also connect people in the early stage and their care partners with social, cultural, and arts engagement opportunities in the community. Online tools Community Resource Finder (alz.org/crf) for local care providers, housing, and services; ALZConnected, a free online community for caregivers and people living with dementia; and ALZNavigator for personalized next steps. Advocacy and research The chapter advocates at the State Capitol and in Congress for better care, expanded access to diagnosis and treatment, and increased research funding. Volunteer advocates are always welcome.
