COLORADO SENIOR LOBBY IS a membership organization of individuals and groups who believe that Colorado's older citizens can greatly affect and be affected by state and national legislative decisions. The Lobby was incorporated July 2, 1980 as a non-profit, non-partisan, all volunteer organization that speaks with a unified voice for more than 600,000 Coloradans 50 years of age and older on issues of common concern. The Lobby encourages Colorado's General Assembly and the US Congress to enact legislation that will favorably affect the quality of life of the elderly. It keeps older citizens informed on bills under consideration, including how their legislators vote.SENIOR DAYS Each year during the legislative session the Lobby, in cooperation with other senior organizations, hosts Senior Days at the Capitol. Participants come from throughout the state to see the legislative process at work, to meet legislators, and to learn more about current legislation.OTHER ACTIVITIES OF THE LOBBYActive monitoring of legislative action on bills of concern to seniors.Opposes bills and regulations which diminish the quality of life of the elderly.Promotes legislation which benefits all ColoradansTestifying in committee hearings when appropriate.Weekly Legislative Briefings during the legislative session: Mondays, 9:30 AM, 1420 Ogden Street.Open to the public..Senior Scorecard ranking legislators by selected recorded votes.The Annual Statewide Meeting gives members an opportunity to network and learn about legislation.Maintains and uses a statewide communication network between concerned seniors and their legislators.Is strictly non-partisan and neither endorses nor opposes any political party or candidate. The Lobby does, however, take stands on issues. MEMBERSHIP PUBLICATIONS AND BECOMING A MEMBER Membership is open to any Coloradan. Each member receives a subscription to the CSL Newsletter. The Lobby publishes the CSL Newsletter and Legislative Summary during the Legislative session. When the legislature is not in session the CSL Newsletter is published monthly.
