Parkinson's Association of Southwest Florida: Helping You Live Well with Parkinsons Disease

The Parkinson's Association of Southwest Florida is dedicated to improving the quality of life for individuals affected by Parkinsons Disease (PD) and related neurodegenerative diseases. We provide a range of proven and effective programs and services designed to educate, enrich, and empower our community members, helping them live well with PD.

Our Mission:

Our mission is to support our friends, neighbors, and loved ones in Southwest Florida through comprehensive services that include movement classes, support groups, speech therapy, and educational programs. We are committed to ensuring that every person affected by PD can access the resources they need to lead fulfilling lives.

Programs and Services:

• Movement Classes: Essential for slowing the progression of PD and improving physical function.
• Support Groups: Providing mutual support and coping skills for those with PD and their care partners.
• Speech/Music Therapy Classes: Strengthening the voice and enhancing communication skills.
• Educational Programs: Offering valuable information on PD management, treatments, and recent research.

Membership:

Membership is open to anyone with PD or other neurological conditions, their families, and care partners. Participants can join both online and in-person programs by completing a membership application and participation waiver. While our services are free, there are significant costs associated with providing these high-quality programs.

PD Talk Recordings:

Access our extensive library of educational talk recordings covering topics such as PD 101, mobility, speech therapy, physical therapy, care partner support, medication, treatment, symptom management, and more. Stay updated on the latest research and peer-reviewed studies on PD treatment and symptom management.

Community Impact:

Last year, our programs and services made a significant impact on the lives of our PD community members. From exercise classes that may slow disease progression to support groups and speech therapy that strengthen the voice, our offerings are tailored to meet the unique needs of those living with PD.
