From a small reading room established in 1885, Pikes Peak Library District (PPLD) has evolved to meet the ever-changing needs of our sprawling and growing community. As a downtown library facing unique space, infrastructure, and security pressures, Penrose Library has enacted many improvement projects in recent years. Work has included the addition and reconfiguration of meeting spaces, further modifications to the childrens area, renovations to the computer lab, and the installation of a perimeter fence. Together, these changes reflect Penrose Librarys ongoing adaptation to the needs of a growing city while continuing to serve as a central hub for public library service in Colorado Springs. Patrons will receive two hours of free parking each day by scanning a physical library card at the kiosks located near the main entrance of the upper lot and near the west entrance to the lower lot. Up to two additional hours of parking may be purchased at a time. Penrose Library is located along Metro Bus Route 3 and 9: Phone ext. 7015
