Telecommunications Access Iowa provides discount vouchers that help pay for specialized telecommunications equipment for qualified Iowans who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing, or have difficulty with speech. The voucher covers 95-99 percent of the average cost of the telecommunications equipment, so there is very little, if any, out-of-pocket expense to the applicant. The equipment includes amplified phones, captioned phones, iPads with specialized telecommunications apps, electrolarynx kits with telephones and accessories such as loud/flashing ringers, neckloops, and amplified answering machines.
