Hello! My name is Denise Schonwald. I’m a Licensed Spiritually-based Mental Health Counselor and also a Registered Nurse and this is my therapy dog. This is Henry.

I’d like to talk a little bit about healing from the inside out, about what we do with our free time. We have to be careful with our time that we spend either on our phones, scrolling on Instagram, because even though a lot of times we feel like we are doing this to relax, what it does is it’s causing the mind to stay in its sympathetic nervous system. We feel like we are relaxing, but what we are doing really is over stimulating the mind.

And what we find when people use too much screen time is they struggle with a lot of anxiety, anger issues, agitation, and you can tell a lot of times by just how what their body is doing. I’m seeing a lot in children, I’m starting to see more ticks, even seizures. There’s nothing wrong. Of course we communicate and a lot of us work online so we have to be on the computer, but there is a balance with everything.

We need to be careful when we are with other people that we put our devices down and we stay present, because that’s how we communicate. We communicate with energy. And when we are talking to somebody or when we are distracted by our cell phones, people feel like that’s more important than they are.

So if you’d like to start healing from the inside out, I encourage you to stay present and to have an appropriate balance with your cell phone or your device.
