A Growing Need for Senior Housing in Bonita Springs, Florida

Bonita Springs continues to be one of Southwest Florida’s most desirable places to retire. With warm weather year-round, proximity to the Gulf Coast, and access to high-quality health care, it’s no surprise that adults age 65 and older make up a significant portion of the local population. As this population grows, so does the need for reliable, well-rounded senior housing options that allow older adults to age with dignity, comfort, and security.

Families today are not just looking for a place to live—they’re looking for peace of mind, long-term stability, and access to care that can adapt as needs change. That’s where The Terraces at Bonita Springs stands out as a trusted Retirement Community and CCRC Campus serving seniors throughout Bonita Springs and the surrounding Lee and Collier County areas.

Understanding Senior Housing in a Modern Retirement Community

Senior housing has evolved far beyond what it once was. Today’s seniors want choice, independence, and access to care—without sacrificing lifestyle. At The Terraces at Bonita Springs, housing is thoughtfully designed to support a wide range of needs within one connected campus.

As a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC Campus), The Terraces offers multiple levels of care, including:

  • Independent Living
  • Assisted Living Community
  • Secured Memory Care Unit
  • Skilled Nursing Facility

This model allows residents to remain in one familiar community even as their care needs change, reducing stress for both residents and families.

Why a CCRC Campus Matters for Aging Adults

One of the biggest concerns families face when planning for senior housing is the unknown: What happens if care needs increase? Will we need to move again?

A CCRC Campus answers those questions proactively. At The Terraces at Bonita Springs, residents benefit from:

  • Continuity of care without relocation
  • Familiar caregivers and surroundings
  • Coordinated medical and wellness support
  • Long-term planning and predictability

This approach is especially valuable in a retirement-focused area like Bonita Springs, where many seniors move to the region specifically to enjoy their later years without disruption.

Housing Options Designed for Comfort and Confidence

Independent Living

Independent Living at The Terraces is ideal for seniors who want freedom, convenience, and community—without the responsibilities of home maintenance. Residents enjoy private residences while benefiting from amenities, dining options, social opportunities, and wellness programming.

Assisted Living Community

The Assisted Living Community supports residents who need help with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, or medication management—while still promoting independence. Personalized care plans ensure residents receive the right level of support, exactly when they need it.

Secured Memory Care Unit

For seniors living with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia, safety and structure are essential. The Secured Memory Care Unit at The Terraces provides:

  • A secure, supportive environment
  • Specialized staff trained in memory care
  • Purposeful daily routines
  • Compassionate engagement focused on dignity and familiarity

Skilled Nursing Facility

The on-site Skilled Nursing Facility delivers advanced medical care and rehabilitation services, whether for short-term recovery or ongoing health needs. Having this level of care available on campus is a major advantage for residents and families alike.

When Going Home Isnt the Next Step: A Guide for Monmouth & Ocean County FamiliesWhen an older loved one needs more support, families in Monmouth and Ocean Counties often find themselves navigating unfamiliar territory. A hospital discharge may lead to rehabilitation. A fall may reveal that living alone is no longer safe. Or a family caregiver may realize that managing medications, meals, personal care, and medical appointments has become too much to handle alone. The good news is that senior care isn't one-size-fits-all. Depending on a person's needs, there are options ranging from short-term rehabilitation to assisted living and long-term skilled nursing care. For families across the Jersey Shore, Complete Care provides a continuum of senior care services through multiple communities in Monmouth and Ocean Counties, including locations in Holmdel, Long Branch, Ocean Grove, Wall, Shrewsbury, Toms River, and Brick.Understanding the Right Level of CareOne of the most important steps in choosing senior care is understanding what type of support a loved one actually needs.Post-Acute RehabilitationAfter a hospitalization, surgery, stroke, illness, or injury, an older adult may not be ready to return home immediately. Post-acute rehabilitation provides a bridge between the hospital and home, helping individuals regain strength, mobility, and independence.Depending on the location and individual needs, Complete Care provides physical, occupational, and speech therapy along with nursing and clinical support. For families in Toms River, Brick, Wall, and surrounding communities, having rehabilitation options nearby can make it easier for family members to remain involved during recovery.Skilled NursingSome individuals need more than therapy. Skilled nursing may be appropriate for people who require ongoing medical monitoring, wound care, medication management, chronic disease management, or other specialized clinical services.Complete Care communities offer a variety of clinical programs, with services differing by location. These may include orthopedic and postsurgical care, cardiac care, wound care, neurological and stroke care, pulmonary care, and memory care. When comparing skilled nursing communities, families should ask specifically about the clinical services available at each location.Assisted LivingAssisted living can be a good option for older adults who need help with daily activities but still want to maintain as much independence as possible.Support may include assistance with bathing, dressing, medications, meals, and other everyday routines, along with opportunities for social engagement and activities. For families in Holmdel, Middletown, Red Bank, Freehold, and neighboring Monmouth County communities, assisted living can offer an alternative to managing increasing care needs at home.Long-Term CareFor some seniors, rehabilitation is only one step in a longer care journey. Chronic illness, cognitive impairment, disability, or increasing difficulty with daily activities may eventually require ongoing nursing support.Long-term care provides assistance around the clock while also addressing the social and emotional needs that contribute to quality of life.A Local Presence MattersFor families choosing senior care, location can be an important consideration.Being close to home makes it easier for spouses, children, grandchildren, and friends to visit regularly and remain involved in care. That's particularly meaningful in Monmouth and Ocean Counties, where families may live in neighboring communities but still want their loved one to remain close to their established support system.Complete Care has a broad local presence, with communities serving residents throughout the region. Its Monmouth County locations include communities in Holmdel, Long Branch, Ocean Grove, Wall Township, and Shrewsbury. Ocean County options include multiple communities in Toms River and Brick Township.Because services vary by location, families should contact the individual community to determine which level of care and specialized programs are available. What Should Families Look For?Whether you're looking for assisted living in Monmouth County, skilled nursing in Ocean County, or rehabilitation following a hospital stay, consider more than just the building.Ask: What level of care does my loved one need today? What happens if their needs change? What rehabilitation and therapy services are available? Does the community offer specialized clinical care? How involved can family members be in the care plan? What activities and social opportunities are available? How close is the community to family? And whenever possible, visit in person.Notice how staff interact with residents. Ask questions. Talk with the admissions and care teams. Pay attention to whether residents appear engaged and comfortable. These observations can help families understand what daily life may actually feel like for their loved one.Planning Before a CrisisMany families begin researching senior care only after a crisisa fall, hospitalization, diagnosis, or caregiver burnout.Planning ahead can provide more choices and less pressure.Even if your loved one isn't ready for assisted living or long-term care today, learning about senior care communities in Monmouth and Ocean Counties can help your family understand what resources are available if circumstances change.Having these conversations early also gives older adults an opportunity to participate in decisions about their own future.Complete Care in Monmouth & Ocean CountiesFor families looking for assisted living, post-acute rehabilitation, skilled nursing, or long-term care in Monmouth and Ocean Counties, Complete Care offers multiple local communities and a range of care services. The right choice will depend on your loved one's medical needs, level of independence, preferences, and family circumstances. Taking the time to understand those needsand exploring local options before a crisis occurscan make the process easier for everyone.Frequently Asked QuestionsWhat types of care does Complete Care provide?Complete Care offers assisted living, post-acute rehabilitation, skilled nursing, and long-term care. 2027 Medicare Annual Enrollment is here!

VERY IMPORTANT: Regarding Medicare it is illegal for an insurance agent to call, text, e-mail, knock on your door, hang anything on your door or vehicle or approach you without your consent. If they do ask for their National Producer Number NPN, and you will hear a click and removed from their list. If they dont hang up, get their number and report them to Medicare. There is so much fraud where people are being switched to plans that they never approved or they were miss led. Shop local, do background checks before you give anyone your personal information. You can google them, google reviews, check their Facebook, etc. Make sure that if you are working with someone you can call them personally if you have any questions or concerns. Medicare Annual Enrollment is October 15-December 7th for January 1st, 2027, effective. What can be changed at this time is Medicare Part D Drug Plans and Medicare Part C (Advantage Plans). You should have received your Notification of Change from your current insurance plan. This outlines the current year to the new year changes, as an example if your specialist provider costs $20 now it might say $35 in 2027 (no correlation just an example). Medicare Part C / Advantage Plans, most carriers have raised out of pocket limits and copays along with decreased extra value benefits for 2027.  Annually Medicare Advantage Plans make changes. They must all include the same features as Original Medicare but not at the same cost share. They can have a premium, Medical and or Prescription deductible, copays and coinsurance can change. Extra Value such as Vision, Dental, Over the Counter, Part B Give Back, transportation, etc. can all change or be eliminated. Medicare sets the annual in-network out of pocket maximum; in 2026 it is $9,250 for in-network and $13,900 out-of-network services combined (2027 this will increase). However, individual insurance plans may set lower limits. The old saying if it is not broken do not fix it DOES NOT apply to Annual Enrollment. Every year I see many people that have not checked/compared their current plan to what is new. I have saved so many people hundreds and in many cases thousands of dollars. You should be working with a broker that represents many insurance companies. Make sure you check them out, especially if you are going to allow someone in your house. I recommend meeting in their office. For me we represent most insurance carriers in our area and carrying all their literature with me is almost impossible. We use three large screens so that our clients can clearly see and compare the differences between the plans. The minimum information always needed is all your doctors, medications: names, milligrams, and dosage. We load your current plan and then compare it to all the other companies in your area. What companies have all your doctors, the price for your medication normally makes a significant difference. Then the Extra Value is what is most important to you. We do NOT CHARGE for your review and if warranted to change your insurance plan. Ethics is most important and if you are on the best plan we will tell you, plus you can see for yourself. If your plan was CANCELLED/DROPPED for 2027, you have a guaranteed issue into a Medigap/Medicare Supplement.  This is huge and very important, know your options!Medicare Seminars they are good for general information. A one-to-one appointment where you can dive into your doctors and medication is best, plus you can then compare other companies in one place. Medicare Part D most insurance carriers have taken away insurance agents ability to help you with your Part D Only drug plans this does not apply to most Advantage plans, standalone drug plans as well as Advantage Plans, you wont have to pay more than $2,400 in out-of-pocket drug costs, which include deductibles, co-pays, coinsurance. It is especially important to check your plans formulary as medication must be in formulary to be capped. 2027 RX deductible will be capped at $715.00. As a reminder the cost of the plan is not as important as the cost plus your medications, that is what you look at, the total cost. It is important to know what the medication is used for to determine if it is covered by the plan. Example Wycovy may be covered but to be covered it must be used for certain heart conditions or diabetes, Medicare does not cover weight lose medications at this time.  As a reminder if you choose NOT to ENROLL in a Part D drug plan and in later years you want one you will have to wait for Annual Enrollment and then you will assed a penalty for every month you did not have a drug plan, that penalty will last for the REST OF YOUR LIFE! When you turn 65 you are eligible for Medicare, once you have worked 40 quarters roughly 10 years there is no cost for Medicare Part A. Part A covers Hospitals, Skilled Nursing, Home Health & Hospice. Medicare Part B you can choose to take at 65, or you can hold off if you are still working and have credible coverage. If you do not have group health insurance that is considered qualified, and then you want Medicare you would have a late enrollment penalty for each month you did not have Part B & Part D, and that penalty will last for the rest of your life. Part B covers doctors, imaging, blood work, ambulance, durable medical equipment, etc. Part D is a Medicare Drug Plan and covers medications. During your initial enrollment period it is especially important to understand your options! Medicare Supplements/Medigap Plans are NOT guaranteed issues; you may need to medically qualify. You can purchase a Medigap Plan during your 1st 6 months on Medicare Part B without medical underwriting. There are a lot of things you need to know. Again, work with an agent you can trust! Especially important: when you move you need to know your options. Can you keep the same plan? Do you need to make a change and what does that look like? Logical Insurance Solutions is a SWFL Insurance Broker that works with most of the insurance carriers in your area, we are happy to help you through the maze. Senior Relocation in Monmouth & Ocean: More Than Finding a House

Senior Relocation in Monmouth & Ocean Counties: Why Moving Is About More Than Finding a HousePicture two homes. The first has the perfect number of bedrooms, a beautiful kitchen and a price that fits the budget. The second is slightly smaller but is closer to family, restaurants, healthcare, shopping and the activities the homeowner enjoys.Which one is actually the better home? For a senior relocation, the answer often depends on what happens outside the front door. That is why choosing a new home later in life should be about more than bedrooms, bathrooms and square footage. It should be about lifestyle.A Home Is Part of a Larger CommunityFor many older adults, the neighborhood becomes increasingly important.A senior may want to be close to a favorite restaurant in Red Bank, family in Middletown, the beaches along the Jersey Shore, golf courses, shopping or community activities.Someone else may want a quiet neighborhood where they can spend more time at home. The right choice is personal.Monica Reddin's professional background and local market experience give her an understanding of the communities that make up Monmouth and Ocean Counties and the surrounding Central Jersey area.Think About the Next Five to Ten YearsA common mistake is choosing a home based exclusively on what works today.Instead, consider what may matter several years from now. That does not mean assuming something will go wrong. It means choosing flexibility.Ask: Is there a first-floor bedroom? Are the bathrooms convenient? Is there excessive maintenance? Are there stairs? Is the home easy to enter and exit? Is shopping nearby? Is family reasonably close? Is there access to transportation? Can the homeowner remain socially connected? These considerations can make a home more adaptable. The Importance of Right-SizingSome homeowners do not need a dramatically smaller house. They simply need a better-fitting house. That is the idea behind right-sizing.Maybe the homeowner wants: A smaller yard Fewer stairs Less exterior maintenance A garage A first-floor primary suite A manageable condominium An active-adult community A home closer to family A home closer to healthcare and shopping The goal is to match the property to the lifestyle. Why Local Knowledge MattersOnline real-estate searches can show properties, but they do not always explain what daily life feels like in a particular location.Local expertise matters.A REALTOR who works across Monmouth and Ocean Counties can help buyers understand differences among communities and neighborhoods. For example, a buyer considering Middletown may have very different priorities from someone looking in Toms River or Howell.Even neighboring communities can have different housing stock, commuting patterns, amenities and lifestyle characteristics.Moving to a New Community Can Be ExcitingRelocation is sometimes portrayed only as a difficult transition. But a move can also open the door to new experiences.A smaller home can mean less maintenance.A 55+ community can provide new social opportunities.Moving closer to family can mean more spontaneous dinners and visits with grandchildren.Relocating near the Shore can make it easier to enjoy favorite Jersey Shore destinations.A move can also provide an opportunity to finally choose a location based on how you want to live rather than where you needed to live decades earlier. What Should Buyers Look For During a Home Tour?Don't simply walk through the rooms.Imagine living there.Stand in the kitchen and picture making breakfast.Walk from the bedroom to the bathroom.Consider where groceries would be unloaded.Look at the stairs.Open cabinets.Check lighting.Think about where guests would sit. Then step outside. How easy is it to get to the car?How busy is the street? What is nearby?Would you feel comfortable walking? This type of practical evaluation can reveal things that photographs never show.Make the Move About the PersonSenior relocation works best when the older adult remains at the center of the process.Family members may have opinions.Adult children may have concerns.Professionals may provide advice. But the senior's goals should remain an important part of the conversation whenever possible.Monica's approach emphasizes that personal dimension.Family and community mean everything to me, and I bring that same care to real estate. What Makes a Senior Relocation Specialist Different?A senior-focused REALTOR understands that the transaction may involve more than buying or selling property. It can involve: Downsizing Decluttering Timing the sale and purchase Relocating closer to family Comparing 55+ communities Planning for lower maintenance Coordinating with other professionals Transitioning from a longtime home Evaluating a new community Monica holds the Seniors Real Estate Specialist designation, reflecting specialized education focused on the needs of older adults in real estate.Frequently Asked QuestionsWhat is senior relocation?Senior relocation is the process of helping an older adult transition from one home or community to another while considering real-estate, lifestyle, timing and practical needs. Why should seniors work with a senior-focused REALTOR?A senior-focused REALTOR can bring specialized knowledge to situations involving downsizing, 55+ communities, relocation closer to family and later-life housing transitions. What areas does Monica Reddin serve?Monica's professional profiles identify Monmouth and Ocean Counties along with other Central Jersey communities. Is moving to a 55+ community the only option for seniors? No. Seniors may choose a condominium, townhouse, smaller single-family home, active-adult community or another housing option depending on their goals. What should I do first if I am considering a senior move?Start with a conversation about lifestyle. Identify what is working, what is becoming difficult and what you want the next chapter to look like before focusing on individual properties.Learn MorePlanning a senior relocation in Monmouth, Ocean or surrounding Central Jersey communities?
