In 2007, Karen and Gregg founded Back Home Safely, a home modification organization with the mission of creating safe and accessible homes in NJ. Along with their team of staff carpenters, they have dedicated their practice to assisting individuals in remaining in their own homes despite medical compromise, through home modification intervention. They use a patient-centered approach by focusing on the patients unique functional abilities, the patients goals and the environment in which they live. Karen and Gregg recently created a franchise called GreenLight Mobility, modeled after their NJ based business, with the mission of assisting people living in other states with their home safety and accessibility needs.
Back Home Safely frequently provides continuing education classes to therapists, social workers and case managers throughout New Jersey. In addition, they present to caregiver organizations as well as senior groups to educate attendees on safety concerns, accessibility and fall risks when aging in place. Karen and Gregg have been guest lecturers for the OT program at Quinnipiac University and Gregg guest lectures at Kean University and Raritan Valley Community College.
Back Home Safely is also a member of VGM Live At Home, a national organization of independently owned and operated, certified providers and contractors dedicated to providing Accessible Home Modifications, Independent Living Solutions and related products and services.
