In exchange, the suspect will offer to pay the victim money for their good deed.Once the transaction happens, the scammer will deposit a fraudulent check via the banks mobile app and immediately begins withdrawing funds leaving the account empty, or worse, in the negative. As a result, the victims are responsible for the lost money and in some cases may even lose banking privileges or lowered credit scores.Fortunately, there are several ways to avoid becoming a victim of this scam:Do not release your bank account, PIN number, or password information to anyone.Do not allow anyone to deposit checks into your account, unless they are your employment provider or banking agent.Do not give anyone access to your bank account or personal funds.Do not assist in cashing someone elses check; there are business for that.If you are ever unsure of a situation, dont act on it. According to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), 58 million Medicare beneficiaries will begin to receive new Medicare cards over a 12-month period, starting in April 2018. This is to eliminate your Social Security Number (SSN) from the card in order to fight medical identity theft. These numbers will be replaced with a Medicare Beneficiary Identifier (MBI) made up of up to 11 letters and numbers to be used for billing, eligibility and claim status.In addition, there are several things you need to know about your new Medicare card:Your new card will automatically come to you. You dont need to do anything as long as your address is up to date.Your new card will have a new Medicare Number thats unique to you, instead of your Social Security Number. You may be familiar with the terms palliative care, and hospice care, but do you know the difference between the two? While the two are often conflated, palliative care and hospice care differ greatly.Hospice provides medical care during terminal illnesses, in addition to emotional, spiritual, and physical support, following a prognosis of six-months or less. Medicare, which covers a significant portion of hospice care, also requires that the patient cease any treatments intended to cure the illness. These treatments might include chemotherapy, drugs to combat psychosomatic conditions, and more. Ultimately, hospice care aims to keep the patient as comfortable as possible as terminal illness progresses into its final stages.On the other hand, palliative care may be provided at any time following the diagnosis of a serious illness, such as renal disease and any progressive disease (pulmonary, cardiac, etc.). Unlike hospice, palliative care does not require the cessation of curative treatments, while still providing the same relief from pain and symptoms. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) recognizes that care management is one of the critical components contributing to individuals improved health, as well as reducing expenses. A Chronic Care Management (CCM) program may help avoid the need for more costly services in the future by proactively managing patient health and functional decline, rather than predominantly treating disease and illness.CCM now allows 20 minutes per calendar month of non-face-to-face care coordination, directed by a physician or other qualified healthcare professional, for Medicare beneficiaries with two or more chronic conditions. Examples of chronic conditions include, arthritis, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, depression, diabetes, heart failure, hypertension, and osteoporosis, among others.Only one practitioner may be reimbursed by Medicare for the CCM service provided to a beneficiary during a given calendar month; there is no charge or co-pay to beneficiaries. This is part one in a four-part series dedicated to an in-depth examination of advance directives: who is eligible to make an advance directive, what it is, how to create one, and what to do with the document after it is complete.Who is eligible to make an advance directive?Every competent person has the right to make decisions concerning his or her own healthcare, including the right to choose or refuse medical treatment. When a person becomes unable to make decisions due to a physical or mental change, such as being in a coma or developing dementia (like Alzheimers disease), he or she is considered incapacitated.To make sure that an incapacitated persons decision about healthcare will still be respected, the Florida legislature enacted legislation pertaining to healthcare advance directives. The law recognizes the right of a competent adult:to make an advance directive instructing his or her physician to provide, withhold, or withdraw life-prolonging procedures;to designate another individual to make treatment decisions if the person becomes unable to make his or her own decisions; and/orto indicate the desire to make an anatomical donation after death.Since anyone is eligible to make an advance directive, the next step is to better understand the document in question. Flu season, which typically peaks between December and February each year, is now in full swing. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommends getting a flu shot to stem the tide of viruses that spread during this season.According to the CDC, seniors are particularly susceptive to the flu virus, and are also at a higher risk of experiencing complications from the flu, resulting in serious illness. A flu shot not only reduces the risk of sickness, but also reduces the chances of hospitalization from complications.The flu vaccine works by causing the body to develop antibodies that provide protection against infection. Viruses that cause various flu strains evolve over time, and each seasons flu vaccine contains a different mix of inactive viruses. Youll be best protected by getting a yearly shot at the start of flu season. Insomnia is a commonly encountered clinical problem that relates to difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep. This sleeping disorder can lead to dissatisfaction, fatigue, low energy, mood disturbances, and decreased performance.Insomnia may be categorized based on its duration. Acute insomnia, is brief and often happens when stressful situations arise. Chronic insomnia occurs multiple times throughout a week and the causes can vary from environment, clinical disorders, and possible medications.
